Establishment of Housing and Urban Development Company, the predecessor of HUD. October 10 every year is designated as the Traditional Day.

1998
Pioneered the construction of high-rise apartment buildings with a professional operation and management unit, initiating the period of strong high-rise housing development in Hanoi.

Establishment of the Housing and Urban Development Investment Corporation (Decision No. 08/2000/QD-BXD of the Ministry of Construction).

Transformed into a Parent - Subsidiary Company model, creating a step forward in corporate governance.

Awarded the title of Labor Hero Unit, recognizing 20 years of construction and development.

2018
Implemented the social housing program, completing about 250,000 m² of floor area for more than 3,000 households. The plan for 2020-2025 is about 500,000 m² of floor area (nearly 5,000 billion VND) for approximately 6,500 households.

Received the First-Class Labor Order. In 2022, revenue increased by 131%, profit increased by 150%, and state budget contribution increased by over 500% compared to 2021.

2024
Celebrating the 35th anniversary of Traditional Day. HUD completed numerous urban areas and commenced construction as well as inaugurated many large-scale social housing projects nationwide.

CHANGING THE WAY VIETNAMESE PEOPLE LIVE
Hanoi residents once had little interest in apartment living because of the shortcomings of the old collective housing blocks at Nguyen Cong Tru and Truong Dinh: basic finishes, small and poorly laid-out flats with many shared functional spaces, and no unified management and operation model. Many households extended their homes and encroached on public space, spoiling the streetscape and putting the buildings' safety at risk, while water supply, sanitation and parking were common problems. HUD pioneered the change.
While the market gave a lukewarm welcome to the first tentative projects of 1993-1997, in August 1998 HUD broke ground on CT4B, a 9-storey apartment building in North Linh Dam, part of the Linh Dam Lake Mixed Services and Housing project. What was new: it was the first apartment building in Hanoi with lifts, and its ground floor held no flats but parking and kiosks for rent to fund its future operation. At the same time, HUD set up a company specialising in urban-area services and high-rise apartment management. This new direction was HUD's initiative, and today it has all become routine: the standard for urban housing development.

URBAN AREA DEVELOPMENT
HUD has developed dozens of synchronous new urban areas and hundreds of high-rise apartment blocks, contributing nearly 9 million m² of housing floor area to the national housing fund.

SOCIAL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
In the 2021–2030 period, HUD targets about 17,500 social housing apartments, equivalent to 1,730,000 m² of floor area, contributing to the National Housing Development Strategy.

OTHER PROJECTS
HUD also invests in office, commercial and high-rise residential complexes in central locations of major cities. The projects follow a multi-functional model that combines modern workspaces, retail and service areas and high-quality apartments to meet increasingly diverse market demand.

HUD has established its position as a pioneering state-owned enterprise in urban and housing development in Viet Nam, recognised by the Party, the State, the Government, the Ministry of Construction and local authorities with many awards and titles for both collectives and individuals. Alongside the Corporation's shared achievements, many of its collectives and individuals have been honoured by the Party and the State with titles such as Hero of Labor in the Renovation Period, Labor Orders of various classes and Emulation Fighter, together with many Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and Emulation Flags from the Government, the Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. These awards not only recognise the dedication, sense of responsibility and persistent effort of generations of HUD's staff and workers, but are also an important source of motivation behind the Corporation's lasting success and reputation on its journey of development.
